Dear spring,

I forgot your beauty after a year of bad weather, a year of coldness and rain which would never stop. However, I forgot that you bring the usual flu along too.
I am not going to lie... This week has been a hard one and it's not only because of the every day studying, the assignments passing and the future rushing on to meet me in just a few months, something I realize right now. It has been hard for I am sick. Yes...well...it's not the best experience.
While you shine out there with a few clouds to ornament the sky and a rather good atmosphere, I am stuck inside for almost a week now. A bit of fever at the beginning, clogged nose and later on the usual sore throat that makes me lose my beauty sleep and my focus from everything that I am supposed to be doing. It has gotten a bit worse and each day that passes, I open my eyes in the morning, hoping that I will not cough, that I will not have to use a thousand tissues and drink the pills....Guess what...It's not even working.
Forutnately enough, I can read something enjoyable and maybe put on a movie or two to watch at night before bedtime. I am wondering though....Is there any other surprise tto find me soon? I am not even referring to the exams.. Those are no surprise, good or bad for that matter.

Sincerely
Your fan.

Dear Spring...

         Dear Spring,

I should begin with the usual "Welcome Back" routine and "How wonderful to have you" quotations. Truth be told, you are more than welcome to stay and it is wonderful to have you indeed, but Spring...you are rather late for us.
You finally arrived with all that beauty that follows you. It hasn't been too long since the day that sun started shining as much, the heat became even more and just a light breeze has remained in the air to remind us the previous season which was a mixture of autumn and winter.
I admit it...This is beautiful, even for those who live in Germany such as myself. We consider ourselves lucky for having such a weather and do our best on spending even more time outside in parks, gardens, the streets even and downtown by the Rhine along with you. Neverthless, it is not as easy as some would think. I wake up everyday and for a few hours, I am in that list of the lucky ones, spending time with friends, laughing and enjoying your own company and that warmth...until I find myself back, trapped in my room. I am studying!!! I am burried under books, papers, notebooks and homework for the next day while you torture me!
In my humble opinion, that is the most unfair thing to do to somebody, torture them that is. But hey...one can only hope, brace themselves, face their problems and move on, right? I am, currently, in the state of hoping and trying... Some more weeks...only a few...
Nonetheless, I should thank you for arriving, for bringing new life to this world and making people smile even more often. Don't get me wrong...I love winter itself but I have my own limits against the cold and the every day rain that becomes dull after a while. Therefore....I thank you Springtime for everything and please, do stay and last a bit longer so I, myself, can enjoy you at last!

Sincerely,
Your fan.

Talking.... Shall we?

I miss talking to people. I am not referring to those everyday conversations which take place everywhere in the world. No... I am referring to really talking to somebody. Those long conversations you can have with somebody during a walk or in the living room or in the kitchen or during a cup of coffee or warm tea, just the way you like it, or even when it's really late at night and the rest of the world is fast asleep.

During those you get to know the other person along all those random things regarding them. You see a side of people that most are not able to face or realize and for that you consider yourself lucky. You realize how rare such moments in life are and how much you miss them.

I wonder what has happened to those conversations and where everybody has gone. I believe in our days, people have found other means of communicating than the old ways of doing so. No more letters are being exchanged, no more meeting for a short moment on the street to say a hello or a goodbye and move on or even spare some time to exchange a few more words. People have become strangers and they pass by others without even noticing the little things, those smiles others can offer and which can make up your own day to begin with.

Those were the rare moments of life and the times worth of our free time, no matter how limited that was. Truth be told, everybody in this world needs one of those long conversations. They do not need to have a reason to begin or a specific result. On the contrary, sometimes, it is possible to sit next to somebody, a friend or a stranger, and walk away later knowing that this was the best talk ever!

People.

I am fascinated by people. It's something that grows as I meet more or see others in an everyday basis. What is even more interesting is how or why some people are able to risk things for others, too cautious or even too scared of going after things they want or their dreams. It fascinates me and I would love to find a good explanation why those who are lucky, look so sad and see life negatively than those who face obstacles and live a shattered life.

So far, I have met a lot of people. People who have lived for a very long time and have a thousand stories to share, people who are in relationships and wonder how they do this since it causes so much pain to them. I have met people desperately in love or who live in the fear of falling in love while others try everyday to make the best out of it and make each day count.

How these people lead a life is rather interesting to me. Although many have come across failures and heartbreaks or losses, they keep living...moving on.

A Music Review: Amadeus

Directed by Milios Foreman, the eight-Oscar winner “Amadeus” is one of the best movies ever made about the process of creation of music and its creator, the composer. As indicated by its title, the film portrays the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, focusing on his last ten years in Vienna, narrated by Mozart’s rival Antonio Sallieri, the court composer to Emperor Joseph II.
Amadeus” is a movie where the creation surpasses the creator and attracts the audience attention setting the question “Who is truly the protagonist?”
In the end of the movie, one may argue that the music in this film is not just a soundtrack used as a background, which usually serves the movie and creates the atmosphere of a scene adding thus to its artistic value and helping enhance the audience delightment. One may indeed support the notion that in “Amadeus” music’s name is written in the casting as it becomes the protagonist or to use a metaphor “a maypole” on which are tight and swindling around people’s lives in an endless dance full of sounds.
In “Amadeus” music acts, reacts, influences and changes the characters lives, participates in society’s actions and activities, becomes rivals weapon in the political arena and serves as man’s mediator to God. Music’s presence in the movie is powerful and ubiquitous in private and public life with orchestras, chamber music and church choir employing all known musical instruments of that time such as violin, piano, viola, cello and basso. At the same time its role is multidimensional releasing emotions, delineating social activities, portraying colorful cultural events, and revealing historical and political disputes.
As character, music in “Amadeus” is vivid, interesting, unpredictable, independent, nonconformist and rebellious like any form of art should be in order to serve its purpose in life as the watch dog of society healing human soul, praising humanity’s achievements and cauterizing its prejudice. In this sense from the beginning of the play music shows its rebellious nature. It escapes Mozart’s control and becomes an independent medium. Many are the scenes in the play where in moments of creation music manifests its self not as a product of thought but as an impulsive flow that spurs out of the composer’s mind and leads his hand in musical compositions written “without a single mistake” as Sallieri admits.
Music unfolds its emotional existence by expressing the characters’ passions, joy, sorrow, hatred, jealousy and obsession employing different forms to manifest them. Every passion of each person in the film is being expressed through music.
When it comes to happiness and joy the dynamics are in forte or mezzo forte, while in moments of sorrow there is piano and pianissimo. Obsession and hatred are given in fortissimo and forte too, while introspect and remorse is expressed with fortissimo, forte or even piano. Music is part of people’s everyday life revealing with forte and crescendo the fast pace of life in the bustling streets of Vienna, while at the same time renders the soft whispering of nature with piano and diminuendo that flows like the snowflakes that cover Vienna in white and melancholy.
It is music with its presence that reveals the fundamental truth of the coexistence of life and death in man’s life. In the opening scene, using one single musical piece in forte slowly changing into fortissimo, music embraces both the agony of the spiritually and physically wounded Sallieri and the joy of people’s dancing in the great Hall. It is the opera Don Giovanni with its forte and crescendo dynamics that expresses the remorse and dark shadows of the past that haunts Mozart.
Finally, music with a requiem laments death literally in Mozart’s loss and metaphorically in Sallieri’s degradation and loss of moral values. The Requiem is changing into fort and crescendo, but it includes parts of piano where female voices appear and which is the softer parts of the music.
On a cultural level music manifests its presence as a powerful factor in life at that era. With music as a vehicle we wonder to the magnificent but austere halls of the Emperor’s court and Archbishops establishment where music suffers by the suffocating hug by a sterile church that allows only forte dynamics, a few notes and no innovations. At the same time in private parties people enjoy music in fortissimo which is also entertaining without restrictions.
On a social level the audience is informed about the importance of music in all aspects of people’s life. From birth to baptism and from marriage to death, in moments of joy, or sorrow music is ubiquitous. People hire teachers to teach their children music, become musicians or musical instrument manufacturers to earn a living.
Last but not least, in the historical and political dimensions music becomes the hero that using Mozart rebels against the Establishment of that time declaring that Art in any form is beyond language barriers, geographical borders or political disputes. Defying the Emperor’s decisions Mozart will perform innovating for his time operas. By doing so in the “Marriage of Figaro” for the first time opera does not deal with mythology and its heroes or with Saints’ lives and God but rather with contemporary characters and situations. Emphasis is placed on the interplay of personalities on the scene and special interest was given in the various ways orchestra could be utilized to express the characters’ emotions.

Rarely a biographical movie reaches the top ten of the Box Office and becomes the darling of the critics. “Amadeus” which means God’s beloved succeeded both because of its charismatic protagonist- Music.

An Average Day.

Everything begins with sound of that alarm going off which usually is next to my bed. It is not that horrid like those monotone ones out there...on the contrary, it's melodic and sometimes, it helps with my positive mood which comes in light during the said day. At the beginning, I find myself laying on my bed, in the darkness which fills the room and with only one small light disturbing it, that one coming from my keyboard as always. At least it's of blue color and I like blue color. I need about 5 good minutes to get back into reality and find the power to pull away from this space between being half asleep and half awake where you can remember your own dreams. 5 minutes are usually enough unless I wish not to hurry. Before I can move any further and slip out of my bed, I am usually attacked by that cute furball which inhabites my room since the last Christmas time. A bit of licking, some bites and plenty of cute puppy dog eyes staring at me in between are what I need to wake up completely. Unfortunately, that lasts for about 5 minutes as well until Snoopy gets bored of me and moves on to chase his toys and bite his bone. I don't complain any more even though I cherish those moments of my life and those mornings!
With Snoopy being gone, I can finally debate on whether I want to attend my morning classes or not but usually my evil self wins and thus, I leave the warmth of my bed. Preparing myself is one of the best procedures of my morning, A warm shower when some time has been spared for me, new clothes, freshly washed ones and the taming of my hair which takes some time during those wild days. That is all I need and even though I have barely any time left before departing from school, I managed to get a bite or even a gulp of water if not tea or coffee.
An hour later after my awakening moment, I am finally in the train station along with 10 or more other people who are to depart from there with the same train to arrive in their workplaces downtown. Truth be told, I hate short train journeys but I do my best to cherish them and have as much fun as I want. For that, I need only my ipod with my favorite music which I listen for about two hours in the morning and during that ride. The train is full of people, some sleepy ones, some awake and hidden behind the pages of newspapers or books or even ipads. Most never really pay attention to what is happening around them and react only when the voice announces the train station they need to get off. They barely even talk with each other and that makes me wonder where technology has brought us. Do they even communicate with each other anymore or is it always a matter of free wi-fi, of how much battery their phones has and so on? I simply don't get it.

15 minutes pass or 10, depending on how fast the train is during that morning, before I can get off and join others on their way down the stairs. I separate from them soon and follow my own short way to school. The neighbor where that is located is not much. On the contrary, it's full of small business and shops, things I do not really care other than the store across of the building where I spend 4 hours of every week day. First, I visit the bakery for my morning coffee and capuccino and surprisingly enough, the people who work there most of them have come to know me in such a short time. They only need to take a look outside the window and smile at me before putting the cup under the machine for the said coffee to be made. With those two in hand, I proceed further to my destinate and usually I arrive earlier than the teachers even or the owner. During that time, I make myself comfortable outside at the stairs, playing a game on my phone or irritating my friend with messages and emoticons but not enough time for anything else. At some point, I end up entering the class and I can finally enjoy my coffee, revise the things we had done the previous day and check on my homework before class time.

And then it begins...German class...Learning a new language...

It's 12:00 when I leave the school, if not earlier than that. Normally, I hurry off to the train unless I have any plans like meeting a friend or so for a coffee during lunch break or going downtown, something which rarely happens on the every day basis. If that is not the case then I quickly walk to the same station of my morning only to board the train of the opposite direction.

Truth be told, my life is not that adventurous anymore. I attend that school and I return home to study, chat with friends and so on. I need about an hour to put my room in a good order with my dog running between my legs, biting, playing and so on. He is rather adorable but annoying all the same when tiredness kicks in.

During the rest of the afternoon and evening hours, I spend my time online, researching for my courses and in between doing my German homework with care and half love. Sometimes that can be exciting but then again...German is a difficult language to learn with all its rules and long words. You get used to it but there is always a limit. With some free time being left for my own enjoyment, I simply catch up on the series I watch during the week and if there are not some good ones, I put on some of my favorites movies. Anything to spend the day before getting back into writting or finding inspiration to write.

Night arrives and after another warm shower and some time relaxing under the water, I can finally prepare myself for bed. Always new Pjs, some perfume for the final touch, the creation of a braid or two and in bed for the last hours. The best company for me has always been a good book, new or old, I do not mind. But it has to be there with my dog bitting the cover page or my fingers, begging or digging for treats before he retired at his own corner for bed time..

An average day in the life of myself, not much but precious!

April's Fools Day!!

April 1st.

April Fools' Day is celebrated on the 1st of April, every year since it's creations. It is a day during which people play practical jokes and hoaxes on each other. The jokes and their victims are called "April Fools". This day is popular since the 19th century and although it's nota  national holiday in any country, it is well known in India, Canada, Europe, Australia, Brazil and the United States.

The custom for the playing of harmless pranks upon people is recognized everywhere. Some precursos of this day include the Roman festival of "Hilaria", the "Holi" festival in India and the Medieval "Feast of Fools"!
Many writers have mentioned April Fools' Day in their workds, one of them being Chaucer's Canterbury Tales where the "Nun's Priest's Tale" is set in Syn March bigan thritty dayes and two. Many scolars of our days find this to an error and that Chaucer wrote Syn March was gon. Thus the orginal meant 32 days after March. Readers minsunderstood this line to mean "32 March", that being 1st of April. In Chaucer's tales, the vain cock Chauntecleer is tricked by a fox.
The Flemish poet Eduard de Dene wrote of another nobleman who sent his servants off to foolish errands on the 1st of April.

In the Uk, an April fool joke is revealed by shouthing "April fool!" at the recipient who becomes that fool. A research which was conducted showed that the joke ceased at midday of the 1st and the person who continued with playing that joke was indeed the victim and the fool.
In Scotland, orginally this day was known as "Huntigowk Day" although that name exists no more. The traditional prank is to ask somebody to deliver a sealed message which requests help of some sort. In fact, the message reads" Dinna laugh, dinna smile. Hunt the gowk another mile". The reciption, whoever that is, upon reading will say that he can only help if he contacts another person and sends the messenger further on to somebody else and the result is the same. This is also the prank played traditionally in Ireland with a few alterations.

Many prank ideas can be found online in several sites for all to do during this day. Although people have stepped away from the traditions mentioned above, it's always fun to irritate others in a funny way!

So...HAPPY APRIL FOOL'S DAY TO ALL!
